It’s been a long while since I’ve last published an entry. A long time. Ah, sorry, love, I’ve been too busy with college.** There’s only 2 weeks left. Yay!
Mostly, I’ve been doing schoolwork and YouTube. I’m sure most of y’all are here either from YouTube or from my Twitter. Hi! *waves*
And I suppose I should talk about my adventure that I had while seeing Maureen Johnson. Well, the book signing/meet and greet was actually during class. So, I obviously had only one choice: skip class and drive all the way to go see her. Yup. I missed both my chemistry lab and Spanish class. But, it was worth it. The odds of me getting lost driving there was pretty high. So, I brought along my GPS. I didn’t get lost, but there was a lot of traffic. Once, I got to the library, (where the meet up was) or rather, close to it, I could not find the exact place to turn in.
Ugh. I’m bad a directions.
It took me four tries to find it. I got there a bit waaayy too early. Like two hours too early. Sigh. So, I decided to go across the street to the Walgreen’s and browse around. I spent 20 minutes in there. “Doing what?” you may ask. Well, I walked around the store in its entirety. Then, I decided I needed some new nail polish. I bought two nail polishes, and when I was done, I drove back to the library. I sat in my car for another 20 minutes.
The time was ticking away very, very slowly. It was only 40 minutes; I still had an hour and twenty minutes left. Honestly, I had no idea what to do. I was twenty five minutes away from my city, and I’m not too familiar with Midwest City. Well, I decided it was time to go in and sit and wait. That’s what I did. Let me just say that it was awkwaaaarrd. VERY AWKWARD. I sat at the table in the lounge-y area. There were six other people in there, three on their laptops, and the other three having a conversation. I found out that the three whom were talking were also there to see MJ. “Okay, so I’m entirely alone,” I thought. I didn’t know who they were so, I just sat there and played games on my iPod. I didn’t have anything else to do.
Seconds turned to minutes as I waited for it to start. Then, out of nowhere a hoard of people came through the side door - probably about 20 or so, maybe more. I knew it had to be a school trip. A school trip to see MJ (they all had a copy of Suite Scarlett). After they all dispersed, another group came in. Same thing, they’ve a copy each.
The time slowly winded down. Who should up, other than MJ through the library doors. Aahh!! She was here, for real. And I was to see her, here, for real.
Well, I still didn’t know anyone, and when it was time to go into the room, I didn’t know where to sit (“I’m the awkward one.”). There was a seat directly in front of the door, where I sat. Looked to my left, nope, don’t know you. Look to my right, *smiles* nope, don’t know you either. It was reeeeeallly awkward. You know that feeling, it’s the first day at a new school, and you don’t know anyone. Some people know some, and so, they’re having an in depth conversation. You feel like a complete loner. Yup. That’s exactly how I felt.
It wasn’t long until I had someone sit beside me on both sides. Yet, I still didn’t know them.
I tweeted: “That awkward moment when you're the only one who isn't in the "school group" who's going to see @maureenjohnson #uhhhh”
It needed to be said, it really did. There were some others that weren’t in the school groups as well. For those of you who know MJ, yes, she’s weird even IRL. Weird, but hilarious. Her answers to our questions were off-topic, but it wasn’t the “Seriously, just answer my question” moment, it was more like “Oh, man, you didn’t answer my question like I thought you would, but the way you answer it is so funny.” That how every question answered was like. My question: “What inspired you to write 13 Little Blue Envelopes?” Her answer: “What inspired me to write 13 Little Blue Envelopes was a Mr. Softie Ice Cream truck. You’re probably confused. It’s true, though. The truck kept going around her old apartment’s block every 10 minutes with that annoying jingle. Honestly, how can one write with something as annoying as an ice cream truck’s jingle in the background? So, she applied for this international program in which she spent a month in Scotland at a castle writing 13 LBE.
My question was the last answered. After, she signed everyone’s copy of SS. Those who didn’t have one, got a free copy courtesy of the library. She signed both SS and 13 LBE for me. And I also asked her if she was excited for go-karting. She was extremely excited. I wish I could have gone, but sadly, I needed to study for chemistry. Priorities, man. But one day, I’ll go go-karting, and it shall be fun. That was it, spent an hour with MJ. It was like #4Q but in real life, and not in 140 characters, haha.
Now, I must wait for 2 hours until the season premier of Doctor Who comes on!! :D So excited! Well, actually, I’ll most likely be watching the Thunder game, but! DW will be DVR’ed. For you Whovians, yes, I know, I’m a twat for choosing sports over the Doctor. IT’S THE PLAYOFFS. CHILL, BRO. I really do hope, however, that there will not be spoilers. I forbade it. Also, off topic of DW, I really need to go get my copy of Portal 2. It’s needed. Although, I don’t know when I’ll have time to play it, seeing as I don’t have time to even play League of Legends – I never told y’all I play LoL, did I? Well, now you know!! (More later about LoL).
40/365: 3 ¾ books read – I’m very behind on this book challenge :(
Days left of school: 13
*Did you get the (sort of) unintentional reference of Portal in the title? It was meant to be, and not meant to be a reference. But, GLaDOS’s voice is so creepy and calming.
**Somehow, that sentence came out with a British accent. Although, when I read things, I hear it as an elderly British man in my head – don’t ask, I don’t know why.
